We advocate for partnerships and public policies to expand the
reach and effectiveness of nonprofits as Wyoming's association for charitable nonprofits.
The purpose of our Public Policy Program is to:
- Educate policymakers and the public on the importance of Wyoming’s charitable nonprofit sector.
- Monitor and take action on public policy issues that have broad impact on charitable nonprofits.
- Educate the charitable nonprofit sector on their role in shaping public policies and provide information and resources to effectively engage in advocacy.
To ensure that our efforts reflect the broad interests of its members, the board of directors, with input from our Public Policy Committee, directs our public policy priorities. To warrant WNN's involvement in state and federal public policy matters, it is necessary for a significant number, if not all, 501(c)(3) nonprofits in Wyoming to be potentially affected. Our members comprise a multitude of nonprofit organizations from various sub-sectors. To avoid the potential of advocating for competing interest among members, WNN will focus on issues that have broad impact. Most of these issues relate to tax exemptions, incentives for charitable giving, government grants and contracts with nonprofits, and laws and regulations affecting nonprofit operations. WNN generally does not take positions on local public policy issues unless these would set a significant precedent that could affect all nonprofits.
Policy Updates
WNN's Position on Proposition #1
Wyoming Nonprofit Network takes positions on public policy issues that have broad implications for Wyoming’s charitable nonprofit sector and the communities nonprofits serve.
With the unanimous support of its Board of Directors, Wyoming Nonprofit Network opposes Proposition #1, on the November 2026 ballot. WNN’s concerns center on the potential long-term impacts of reduced local revenue on community services and the nonprofit organizations that often work alongside local governments to meet community needs.
WNN encourages all members and Wyomingites to consider the initiative's long-term impact on the health and wellbeing of Wyoming's communities.
