
The Wyoming Nonprofit Network, in partnership with the Carbon County Higher Education Center and Carbon County Economic Development Corporation, is excited to support the Carbon County Nonprofit Learning Event on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Whether you are a nonprofit professional, board member, or community leader interested in learning more about the nonprofit sector, these learning and networking opportunities are intended for you.
Registration covers participation in both workshops and lunch. However, attendees also have the option to attend either the Board Fundamentals or the Building Financially Healthy Organizations workshops separately as individual learning opportunities.
Schedule
- Board Fundamentals: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Lunch and Networking: 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Building Financially Healthy Organizations: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Board Fundamentals: This three-hour workshop will equip attendees with practical knowledge needed to support and serve on a nonprofit organization’s board of directors. Focused on understanding the role of the board of directors, attendees will:
- Evaluate board members’ responsibilities and legal obligations.
- Define the difference between governance and management within the organization.
- Explore tools to evaluate the communication provided to board members, both as part of the board meeting and between formal meetings.
Building Financially Healthy Organizations: During this two-hour workshop, attendees will explore the characteristics of financially healthy nonprofit organizations. Supported by self-guided tools to evaluate their organization's financial stability and sustainability, attendees will consider:
- Key financial and fund development metrics that can be used to assess the organization’s performance.
- The concept of full cost recovery and how to ensure the organization can cover all expenses related to programming and operations.
- The policies, procedures, and board involvement necessary to manage finances effectively and transparently.
About the Presenter:
Tess Mittelstadt, Director of Learning and Development for the Wyoming Nonprofit Network
Tess holds a master’s in public administration, with a focus on nonprofits, from the University of Wyoming, and has served as executive director, director of development, and board member in the nonprofit sector. As the Wyoming Nonprofit Network’s Director of Learning and Development, Tess is committed to supporting organizations across the state to reach their full potential.
Registration Fees:
$20.00 per person for WNN Members and Not-Yet WNN Members. Recognizing the importance of this learning opportunity for the community, a portion of the registration fee has already been covered by the Carbon County Higher Education Center Foundation.
